Are You Tired of Fad Diets? Find Out Why HCG is the Most Popular and Most Effective Weight Loss Treatment.

HCG, which stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is a glycoprotein hormone produced from the embryos of women during pregnancy. This hormone, though previously considered to be unrelated to weight loss/weight gain, was discovered in the 1950s to be highly valuable in the treatment of obesity. Dr. A.T.W Simeons pioneered the research in this field, using injections, coupled with a low calorie diet, in order to arrest and completely reverse weight gain. Many studies and countless real world people have achieved amazing, lasting, weight loss with HCG.

The HCG diet plan is absolutely spectacular in its effectiveness. Recent new information released indicates that not only does HCG help you lose weight fast, but also it helps to cure diabetes! We reported on a new HCG study that not only definitively showed the HCG diet worked, but that the it also helped boost insulin levels and metabolism. This absolutely a stunning development, considering that HCG has never been used to treat diabetes. It's quite amazing that such a simple hormone is turning out to have so many amazing, and unexpected effects.

We provide Dr. Simeon's book free of charge with all of our orders, so all of our customers can follow his plan closely. HCG drops in recent years have received much praise for their cheap price, high effectiveness and wide availability. As with all things that help people, there are many imitators that develop around it.

Homeopathic HCG is quite popular right now, but there are several key issues with it's effectiveness. Almost all Homeopathic HCG drops contain little to no actual HCG. The term homeopathic actually refers to medicine that is diluted and heated in such a way as to kill its effectiveness. As such, it is practically worthless, as it destroys the protein strands that make up HCG. As a result, it is important that you choose and utilize only Real HCG Drops.

HCG injections were the primary way HCG used to be administered. Since HCG generally was thought to need monitoring by a doctor in order to maximize effectiveness, doctors were the primary way patients achieved HCG's amazing benefits. In the early 2000s, however, several pharmaceutical companies began offering HCG drops, as a low cost alternative for achieving similar results.

As with any effective weight loss, imitators begin to form around the effective treatments. Homeopathic HCG drops were created for just this purpose. They are cheap, contain little to no HCG, and are often sold as the real thing. Homeopathic HCG is everywhere on the Web, but these drops contain no HCG at all. The HCG diet plan has been quite effective as studies have begun showing in recent months. It not only provides one of the most stable and long lasting treatments for obesity, but also has become a staple of any doctor's prescription plan for helping patients lose weight.

HCG injections have continually provided, fast, permanent weight loss. However, recent studies show that Non-Homeopathic HCG drops provide almost the same level of effectiveness and promptness of weight loss. Non-Homeopathic HCG drops are the real deal, and are produced by a single American pharmaceutical company for sale as supplements. These drops are less expensive than injections, and far less painful. Careful monitoring is still necessary, but there is more leeway in the dosage with Real HCG drops. As with all programs, you should follow the guidelines supplied on the bottle and otherwise. However, if you need further assistance with your real HCG drops, please feel free to contact us directly.

The term Non-Homeopathic refers to the way in which a product is manufactured. Homeopathic is defined as a drug with minimal, or nearly zero, dosage. Non-Homeopathic HCG drops, however, are reliable alternatives that provide similar outcomes to injections.

Do not be fooled by Homeopathic HCG drops for this reason. Clinical levels of HCG are necessary for real progress to occur. The drops we provide use supplement binders, in accordance with FDA regulations, and are manufactured within the USA. Most of these Homeopathic HCG drops are mainly coming out of China. These suspect drops are increasingly turning into an attempt to fool unsuspecting customers, who believe they contain HCG.

Non-homeopathic HCG fits well within the HCG diet plan as it provides top level treatment for discounted prices. The HCG diet plan, which includes 4 distinct phases, relies heavily upon levels of HCG being maintained within the body. This strategy utilizes several key aspects, including HCG hormone administration, and a lower 700 calorie per day meal plan. We at Bottled HCG diet actually provide this meal plan and recipe guide free of charge to all of our customers. Along with your real HCG drops, you will receive a full fledge guide that will help you on your journey to a healthier you.

Please Learn More about Homeopathic vs Non-Homeopathic HCG drops by reading about our studies of the differences and the results!

HCG Diet Food List – HCG Diet

Posted: July 7, 2018 at 8:41 pm

Basics of HCG Approved Food List

While on the HCG diet, Dr. Simeons explains in his protocol that a strict diet of 500 calories a day is necessary in order to see the full effects of the HCG hormone. Within his protocol Pounds and Inches Away published in 1967, Simeons explains that The diet used in conjunction with HCG must not exceed 500 calories per day, and the way these calories are made up is of utmost importance. Simeons knew that simply cutting calories, was not the proper method to weight loss due to the harmful effects certain foods could still have on the body. This methodology is emphasized as he states, if a patient drops the apple and eats an extra breadstick instead, he will not be consuming more calories, but he will not lose weight. This is due to the fact that certain foods, especially fruits and vegetables, could have low caloric value, but are absent from his list due to low nutritional value. These foods can interfere with regular weight loss while on the HCG diet, due to their composition. Simeons points out pimiento peppers, okra, artichokes and pears as examples of foods with few calories, but are still harmful to the body when trying to lose weight.

Something to keep in mind when on the HCG diet is your geographic location. Simeons, who wrote his protocol in Italy, based off of the caloric value of Italian foods, explains that certain modifications should be made if you are dieting in another country. For example, beef in the United States has almost double the calories of South Italian beef, which contains much less fat. Because of this, Simeons substitutes low-grade veal to be used while following the diet. Italian breadsticks, known as Grissini, are perfect for the HCG diet, but are mostly unavailable to people in the U.S. Melba toast can be used instead, even though, as Simeons puts it they are psychologically less satisfying. Even when changes are being made to the diet due to location-based feeding habits, Simeons continues to stress that the total daily intake should not exceed 500 calories. If dieters would like to see the best results, they should follow this protocol, sticking to approved foods. A daily ration should contain 200 grams of fat-free protein, a mix of fruits and vegetables, and a small amount of starch.

In his protocol, Simeons also makes it clear that because the daily dose of HCG drops is consistent for everyone, the same diet should be followed, regardless of who is doing it. The same diet should prove to be effective whether it is a small elderly lady of leisure or a hard working muscular giant. Simeons states that no matter the shape or size of the body, it is able to get all the calories it needs from abnormal fat deposits, regardless of whether you are burning 1,500 or 4,000 calories per day. Simeons emphasizes this point in his protocol, explaining that we use our fat for fuel far more often than we use what we eat to move us during the day. Before diving into the specific foods allowed on the HCG diet, Simeons breaks down a few unique scenarios that could apply to a variety of people trying to follow the HCG diet.

The first example he covers is vegetarians, who are unable to consume any sort of animal protein. In order to obtain the proper amount of protein per day, which is 200 grams, Simeons says they must drink 500 cc or just over 2 cups of skimmed milk per day. When it comes to fruit, vegetables and starch, the vegetarian diet is very similar to that of the HCG diet. However, they will not consume their usual intake of vegetable proteins from legumes such as beans or derived from wheat and nuts. Due to some of these restrictions, vegetarians see about half the average weight loss of non-vegetarians while following this plan. Simeons attributes this to the amount of sugar in the milk that vegetarians need to substitute for animal protein. More information about following the HCG Diet as a vegetarian can be found here.

Faulty dieting is another aspect of the HCG diet that Simeons stresses in his protocol. While on the HCG diet, it is crucial that the approved foods list is followed, as the slightest deviation from the diet has disastrous results as far as the weight is concerned. While taking the HCG hormone and following the strict diet, the body is extremely sensitive to anything that isnt approved by Dr. Simeons list. Small errors can stop the weight loss process, and ruin previous progress. Simeons mentions that people in high official positions are still able to follow the HCG diet with the proper preparations and discipline. If they are at official dinners, it is important to stick to the diet, and work around foods that dont follow the guidelines. This is extremely important due to the fact that a meal against protocol can cost them three days of treatment progress. Something that many patients have questioned about the HCG diet is the use of vitamins. There is a common fear that the restricted diet is limiting the amount of vitamins and minerals they are getting. However, physicians can assure their patients that when they are losing fatty tissue, only the actual fat is being burned, and the vitamins, proteins and minerals contained within the foods are still taken in by the body.

Before going over the list of approved foods, it is important to understand the specific way in which the diet should be followed. Every item on Dr. Simeons list is carefully researched and picked for specific reasons. No variations or substitutes can be used for the approved food list. All items that are not on the list are forbidden, due to the fact that nothing permissible has been left off. When it comes to the daily ration of meat, the 200 grams should be weighed raw, after any visible fat has been trimmed off. Another important aspect Simeons points out is the way in which meals are broken up. A breadstick and an apple can be eaten for breakfast or right before bed, as long as it is deducted from the regular meals. However, it is important to keep in mind that a daily ration of two breadsticks and two fruits should not be consumed at the same time. Furthermore, items saved or not eaten in previous days cannot be transferred and eaten on the next day. Since a new diet can often be difficult to track at first, Simeons highly recommends keeping a diet sheet to reference, with a list of everything consumed each day. If a cheat does occur, find out what you can do about it here. Some patients have asked before about following the diet protocol without taking the HCG hormone. Simeons is very much against doing this, and explains that it will lead to trouble in just a few days. Furthermore, it is important to note that showing off to friends about your dieting powers, without letting them know about taking HCG hormones is also dangerous. This can cause friends to try the same diet without the hormone, which proves to be a failure and can often be dangerous.

When it comes to finding loopholes in the diet and protocol, Simeons suggests finding another way to lose weight instead. His protocol and plan was researched for decades, and each food and procedure is chosen for a specific reason. Loopholes such as eating two small apples instead of the recommended one large apple, can change the caloric value delivered and alter dieting results. Similarly, chicken breast must be from a chicken and cannot be replaced by the breast of any other fowl. Simeons promises results if dieters follow the exact process and protocol, and any attempts at tricking the system or getting around certain foods can prove to be detrimental to results. It is best to follow the process that he lays out in his manual, and follow this list of approved foods, straight from his book Pounds and Inches Away. With each of Dr. Simeons approved foods, we will also dive into the benefits of consuming each when it comes to not only weight loss, but also overall vitamin, mineral and protein content.

Beginning with breakfast, tea or coffee in any quantity is allowed, but no sugar can be added. Instead, a sugar substitute should be used, such as Trulicious Natural Sweetener. A tablespoon of milk is allowed per 24 hours. As for lunch, there are a variety of meat options that are approved by Dr. Simeons. These include 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp. Before cooking all meats, they should be trimmed of all fat and weighed raw. The meat should then be boiled or grilled, with no additional fats added. Any fish such as salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed on the HCG diet. White fish such as Tilapia, Cod and Halibut are permitted, as well as albacore tuna (packed in water only).

Along with your meat choice at lunch, one type of vegetable can be eaten. Most vegetables are approved for the HCG Diet, with the exception of high starch options such as corn and potatoes which are left off the list. All greens are approved on the diet and eating a variety of vegetables each day is highly recommended. The protocol states that 2 cups of vegetables per day should be eaten, and split between both meals. Dieters should choose from the following list: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus and cabbage. One breadstick (Grissini), or if not available, one Melba toast can be eaten as well. For fruits, one apple, a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit rounds out the meal. The fruit or breadstick can be eaten between meals, instead of during lunch or dinner, however, no more than four items on the list should be eaten at one meal. As for dinner, the same four choices should be used as lunch.

Simeons also outlines a variety of rules that go along with what can be eaten while on the diet. Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks that can be used, however, they can be consumed in any quantity, at any time. Check out these 6 beverages you should be drinking when on the HCG Diet. Simeons recommends that HCG dieters consume around 2 liters of fluids per day. Many dieters believe this will cause them to retain more water, however, this is not the case, and furthermore, the body is inclined to store more water when it is not being hydrated enough. The juice of one lemon per day is allowed for any purpose. As for seasoning, salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc. can all be used. However, no oil, butter or dressing should be consumed while on the diet.

With most diets, there are always variations to what the proper foods and processes are to lose weight. The HCG diet has had a resurgence, due to Dr. Oz bringing it to light in 2013. Dr. Ozs vegetable list contains: any kind of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, fennel, cucumber, radishes, celery and asparagus. For proteins he lists white fish, lobster, crab, shrimp and extra lean beef (96% lean ground beef including pot roast). For fruits his list contains apples, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and lemons. For condiments, Dr. Oz approves Braggs Liquid Amino (healthy soy sauce substitute), mustard, apple cider vinegar and any natural herbs or spices. While not drastically different than Simeons approved foods, it is important to note that there are a variety of methods and processes you can follow while on the HCG Diet. We suggest following the approved foods list that is explained in the previous paragraphs, which come straight from Dr. Simeons book, Pounds and Inches Away.

When it comes to salt, Simeons explains that there is no restriction on the use of salt. Instead, he focuses the attention on hydration and ensuring that dieters drink large quantities of water while taking the HCG hormone. The goal of reducing abnormal fat is a completely separate process than salt consumption, and does nothing to affect weight loss. However, although there is no limit, the daily salt intake should roughly stay consistent as not to suddenly alter the bodys balances, which can give faulty results day to day.

Another important aspect of the HCG diet, often overlooked, is the use of cosmetics, which can often be a hidden issue when it comes to weight loss results. Simeons explains that many of his patients were surprised to hear that the fats and oils contained in their creams and ointments could be absorbed after being applied to the skin. Once absorbed, they can interfere with weight loss, in the same way as if the fat and oil had been eaten. Simeons emphasizes the sensitivity of the body while doing the HCG diet and the importance of controlling as many variables as possible. This minor increase in fat and oil can have dramatic effects on the success of the diet. Simeons uses an example of a worker at a beauty parlor, who is constantly handling organic fats, and never had a satisfactory loss of weight until they eliminated contact with these fats and their skin. Simeons solution is to use plain mineral oil, which has no nutritional value. However, mineral oil should not be used in preparing food, since it has laxative qualities and can absorb fat-soluble vitamins which are later released from the body. The use of lipstick, powder and lotions that are free of fatty substances, are all approved on the HCG diet. Brilliantine can also be used on the hair, but not to be rubbed into the scalp. Sun-tan oil is strictly prohibited. Approved cosmetics include: Mineral based/oil free foundation/lotions, bare essentials/bare minerals, mineral stick deodorant (Crysalux Crystal), baking soda, face soap/make up removers, Arbonne, Neutrogena Oil Free Cream Cleanser, and Witch Hazel. For skin and lip moisturizers, there are a variety of approved products to choose from. However, various foods can also be eaten to promote healthy skin, check out the link for more info. For HCG approved products they include: Alba Oil Free Facial Moisturizer, Aloe Vera 100%, coconut oil (cold pressed), Fiji Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Kiss my Face Oil Free Moisturizer, St. Ives Vanilla Lotion. As for shampoos and conditioners, approved products include Aubrey Organics, Life Extension, Magik Botanicals Oil Free Shampoo and Conditioner, Mastey Products, and Natures Gate Alovera. Dial soap can be used as well as baking soda for everyday cleaning. Sunscreen should be used based off the following products: Aveeno Oil Free Sunscreen, Clarins Oil Free Sun Care Spray SPF 15, Coppertone Oil Free Sun Block for Faces SPF 30, Coppertone Oil Free Sun Block Lotion, Ocean Potion Sport Xtreme Sun Block Water and Sweat, Oil Free Sport Xtreme Sun Block, Peter Thomas Roth Ultra Lite Oil Free sun products, Zia Oil Free Sunscreen SPF 15. For toothpaste, Spry and Toms of Maine toothpaste are both acceptable. For an easily printable list, check out a List of Recommended Beauty Products Safe for HCG.

To aid dieters in the choosing of foods on a daily basis, we will break down the caloric information of the approved foods, explain the various benefits you receive from each item, and provide a few HCG approved recipes that you can try out at home. This will help you better plan out what foods youd like to eat, and stick to your diet goals.

Breakfast: Herbal tea with Trulicious Natural Sweetener, and 1 piece of Melba Toast

Lunch: 3 oz of grilled chicken breast, 3.5 oz of Asparagus, 1 breadstick and a small apple

Dinner: 3 oz of baked halibut, 3.5 oz cauliflower, 1 breadstick and 12 strawberries

Nutrition Facts: 494 calories, 10.6g fiber, 31 carbs, 51g protein, 229mg sodium

Starting your day with a cup of herbal tea such as black tea or green tea is a great choice when it comes to your overall health. Green tea specifically has been shown to increase fat burning and boost your metabolic rate. In a study done on 10 healthy men, it was found that green tea increased energy expenditure by 4%. More information about this study can be found here. Mix in a spoonful or two of substitute sugar, such as Trulicious Natural Sweetener, which is 3 times sweeter than sugar, but has very few calories and a low glycemic index. To go along with your tea, a slice of Melba Toast is an excellent way to incorporate a good source of fiber and complex carbohydrate into your diet.

Following breakfast, the caloric intake increases, with four items on the menu. At over 20g of protein and only 200 calories, grilled chicken breast is a great way to give your body the protein it needs to keep your muscles strong and well-fed while working out. Made up of important amino acids, the protein contained in chicken helps to form the building blocks of muscles in the body. Not only is chicken great for its protein content, but also the vitamins and minerals it contains. For example, the Vitamin B that chicken provides, can help boost immunity, regulate digestion and prevent problems such as migraines, high cholesterol and diabetes. Also contained within chicken is vitamin D which helps the body absorb calcium and strengthens bones. Vitamin A, also found in chicken, helps with overall eye health, while its traces of iron help with muscle activity. Overall, diets with high levels of protein are shown to help with weight loss, as it provides the necessary protein your muscles need to burn abnormal fat. Along with the chicken at lunch, choose a few ounces of asparagus. Its packed with fiber and antioxidants that keep your body running smoothly. Vitamins such as A, C, E, and B6 as well as high levels of iron, copper, and calcium, give your body the key nutrients it needs while on a restricted caloric intake. At only 32 calories per cup, asparagus contains a lot of soluble and insoluble fiber, which is great when youre trying to lose weight. The fiber, while helping with digestion, is consumed slowly by the body and keeps you full longer in between meals. Antioxidants found in asparagus, especially the purple kind, can help your body fight against cancer cells and strengthen your immune system. Adding a bit of sweetness to the end of your meal can be a great way to boost your energy, while also providing your body with excellent nutrients and vitamins. Apples, ranked first in Medical News Todays article on top 10 healthy foods, are high in Vitamin C, a powerful natural antioxidant that can fight against free radicals and infectious agents. Along with minerals such as calcium, potassium and phosphorus, the B-complex vitamins within apples are great for maintaining red blood cells and keeping the nervous system in great shape.

Dinner contains plenty of natural and nutritious items such as halibut, cauliflower and strawberries, all of which have immense health benefits to the body. Halibut is an excellent source of protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12. It is also rich in fiber, and contains more than oatmeal and a variety of vegetables. The Satiety Index of Common Foods also ranks white fish such as halibut, as number two for the most filling foods, only topped by potatoes. This is due to the high protein content and also the influence it has on serotonin, a key hormone responsible for controlling appetite signals. Omega 3 fatty acids, which can be found in various white fish, are essential for the body and cannot be synthetically created. Therefore, it needs to be supplied from an external source such as cod and halibut. Other nutrients such as magnesium, in which halibut contains 22mg, helps relax arteries and veins in the body, which in turn, increases blood flow. Cooking methods such as broiling, baking and grilling, instead of deep frying, can help keep all the nutrients in the foods.

Pair your halibut with some steamed or baked cauliflower which is rich in vitamins and minerals. Cauliflower contains high levels of sulforaphane, a sulfur compound that has been seen to kill cancer stem cells and limit tumor growth. Its anti-cancer effects can also help prevent prostate cancer, when combined with turmeric, which contains the active compound curcumin. Not only is it great for preventing cancer, but it also controls inflammation in the body due to its various compounds. Lastly, cauliflower contains 77% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, which is key to body development and repairs of body tissue. Also a good source of vitamin k, thiamin, phosphorous and potassium, cauliflower is a one-stop shop for many vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive. Finishing your meal off with a dozen strawberries is a great way to not only satisfy your sweet tooth, but also provide your body with vitamins, potassium and fiber. All of these can help with weight loss and strengthen your body overall. Strawberries help promote the creation of adiponectin and leptin hormones, which both help with fat burning and increasing your metabolism. They also have anti-inflammatory properties by limiting the impact of enzymes and genes that can promote inflammation in the body. This is due to the high antioxidant content contained within them. Eating water rich foods such as strawberries, cucumbers and tomatoes, which can contain up to 90% water, helps contribute to better overall hydration if eaten with a steady consumption of water as well. Containing more vitamin C than oranges by weight, one cup of strawberries fulfills 141% of your daily vitamin C needs. While not directly shown to cause weight loss, vitamin C deficiencies have been shown to hinder weight and body fat loss, so ensure that youre fulfilling your daily needs while dieting. Vitamin C has also been shown to help dieters with high blood pressure. Lastly, strawberries are rich in nitrate, which can help increase the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles by 7%. This has been shown to help dieters burn more calories and lessen overall fatigue.

Breakfast: Herbal tea with Trulicious Natural Sweetener, and 1 breadstick

Lunch: 3.5 oz of shrimp, 3.5 oz spinach, 2 Melba Toast and a small orange

Dinner: 3 oz of beef, 3.5 oz tomatoes, 1 breadsticks and grapefruit

Nutrition Facts: 493 calories, 19g sugar, 46 carbs, 45g protein, 281 sodium

Shrimp packs a punch when it comes to key nutrients and protein content. At around 20 grams of protein per 3 ounces, it provides just a few grams less than the same amount of chicken. A single jumbo shrimp provides about 3 grams of protein, but has very little fat and carbohydrates, making it a great food while trying to lose weight. It also comes close to fulfilling the bodys daily value for selenium, a trace mineral that can help limit inflammation, protect against heart disease and maintain a healthy metabolism. Along with selenium, shrimp provides around 60% of your daily vitamin B12 needs and 40% for phosphorous. To go along with the shrimp, try some sauteed spinach, which provides your body with 3.6g of carbohydrates, 2.2g of which are dietary fiber. Spinach contains 70% insoluble fiber, which helps improves digestion function and the transportation of food through the body. The other 30% is soluble fiber, which keeps your body from absorbing some fats contained in other foods. Fiber plays an important role in the body and especially weight loss. Learn more about the different types of fiber here. Spinach also has a low glycemic index of just 15, which makes it the perfect food for promoting weight loss and eliminating cellulite. 100 grams of spinach also contains 558mg of potassium, about 16% of your daily value. Containing more potassium than 100g of bananas, increased consumption helps with preserving bone mineral density and retaining muscle mass. It has also been shown to help prevent kidney stones, as well as control heart rate and blood pressure. To finish off lunch, try a small or medium orange. They have over 170 different phytochemicals and 60 flavonoids, many of which have strong antioxidant benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. One orange provides 130% of your daily vitamin C needs, which helps boost your immune system and keeps the body running smoothly. Choline, a vitamin contained in oranges, with 36mg per orange, has been shown to help with sleep, muscle movement, learning and memory.

For dinner, the main meal of beef, tomatoes and grapefruit, contains a variety of

vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. At around 26 grams of protein, the 100g of beef will keep you full and strong while on the HCG diet. Beef also provides 35% of your vitamin B3 needs and 107% for vitamin B12. Maintaining a strong supply of proteins, vitamins and minerals is crucial while on the HCG diet, due to the decrease in calories consumed. It is important to provide your body with the building blocks it needs to stay healthy as you lose weight. To go along with your main source of protein, tomatoes are a superfood when it comes to nutritional content and the benefits it provides your body. They are rich in vitamin C, at around 40% of your daily requirement per tomato, and also in vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant that can improve your vision. Lycopene, a component of tomatoes, has been proven to help protect against cardiovascular disease and decrease cholesterol levels. Finishing the meal with half a grapefruit, brings the body similar benefits to the oranges consumed at lunch, due to its high vitamin A and C levels. However, it still has a low glycemic index of 25, therefore, not significantly affecting blood sugar and insulin levels. Studies done by Dr. Ken Fujioka as part of the Scripps Clinic, showed that on average, obese participants who consumed fresh grapefruit before each meal, lost the most weight at 3.52 pounds over 12 weeks, with the placebo group only losing 0.66 pounds. Along with its weight loss benefits, grapefruits are one of the most hydrating fruits on the planet, made up of 91% water, and providing the body with important electrolytes.

Simeons notes in his protocol that there is no objection to breaking up the two meals. For example, there is the option to have a breadstick and an apple for breakfast or before bed, as long as it is removed from the regular meals and no more than four items are eaten during one meal. When first following the HCG diet and planning out meals, Dr. Simeons suggests keeping a diet log, in order to properly measure caloric intake and food consumption. Relying on memory can be difficult, and preparation will always serve to keep dieters organized and on-track with their diet needs. Overall, sticking to a plan is the most important aspect of the HCG diet and following the careful way in which the foods, process and treatment was designed.

Hcg Diet Plan: Get to Know the REAL Hcg Diet | HCG DIET …

What is the Hcg Diet Plan? (And how to do it right.)

The Hcg Diet Plan is a doctor-supervised, medical weight loss program that combines hormone therapy with whole food eating. Menu options are heavy in vegetables and lean proteins, as well as fruit options and limited grains. Allowed calories on the protocol, range from 500 to 1600 calories, depending on the specific protocol followed.

The very specific food list can teach healthy eating, portion control and establish healthy relationships with food. While the protocol was initially outlined by Dr. Simeons, modern day variations have become increasingly popular. This guide, focuses on the original protocol, with modern adaptations noted by the editor.

How the diet started

Dr. Albert Simeons was a world-renowned endocrinologist recognized for his pioneering work in tropical diseases. He was awarded the Red Cross Order of Merit for his advancement in the research and treatment of Malaria and honored for a number of research-breakthroughs. While working with severely malnourished women in India, Dr. Simeons discovered a link between the Hcg hormone, and its ability to utilize stored fat to nourish and deliver healthy children. After years of research, he was able to develop a protocol that utilized this effect of Hcg, to treat obesity, and published the groundbreaking manuscript, Pounds and Inches.

Here are a few basics for those who are ready to jump right in and start with the plan immediately. With these simple articles, you can easily get started today. Take note however, that anyone new to the plan, should read through this guide thoroughly, and NEVER proceed with the protocol without consulting a physician (FDA approved telemedicine Hcg programs are listed below.)

The Hcg Diet is a medical weight loss plan, and should ONLY be prescribed and overseen by a licensed medical doctor. These sources provide complete prescription Hcg kits for injections, drops and tablets/pills/pellets, and provide expert guidance throughout the duration of treatment.

Help and Support: 3 Reliable Options

The Hcg protocol consists of 3 phases, with a newer 4th phase that has been added to the original protocol, being coined as P4, longterm maintenance. Each phase is extremely important and should not be skipped. The Loading Phase (P1) is 2 (in some cases, 3 days,) while Phase 2, the weight loss phase, can vary in length depending on your protocol's specifics. For example, one Hcg source's protocol can differ from another such as 26 days or 29 days. Phase 3, the Transition Phase, lasts 3 weeks and is an expansion of increased calories and foods that do not include any sugars or starches. The 4th phase refers to life after the diet's first 3 phases and includes a lifestyle of healthy choices learned while on the protocol. This includes exercise, portion control, clean eating and healthy living in general.

Hcg Diet and Medical Conditions*

The HCG Diet Protocol consists of separate phases. Together, they are referred to as a round. Dieter's typically lose 18 to 25 lbs per round (approximately 1 month.) If more weight is needed to be lost, there is a 3 week break after the final phase, and thenanother round is started. Rinse and repeat until goal weight is reached.

HCG Diet protocols include the following4 phases. Note on protocol variations: Some protocols actually include 3 and 4 as the same Maintenance phase and have only 3 phases total. Other protocols, including Dr. Simeons Original protocol, do not include phase 1, loading phase. This can be a personal preference, however we will say that the following phase example, has shown great results from our readers, and has certainly appeared to be the most successful.

1. Hcg Diet Phase 1 Loading

Phase 1 is the loading phase. Also known as the preparation phase. This phase is not on all HCG Diet protocols but it is on most and is very popular. During this two day phase, the dieter eats as much healthy fats as possible in preparation for starting the next phase. They are also welcome to eat as many cheat foods as they would like, with the intention of satisfying cravings prior to beginning the next phase where these foods will not be allowed. Read more

2. Hcg Diet Phase 2 Weight Loss

Phase 2 of the HCG Diet is the weight loss phase. This begins on day 3 of taking HCG where the dieter adheres toa specifiedcalorie intake and carefully selected food list. For most dieters, this is the most challenging phase of the plan because there is very little room for error. Read more:

3. Hcg Diet Phase 3 Transition

Phase 3 of the HCG Dietis at the end of HCG is discontinued and the same foods from phase 2 are still eaten, but increased slowly. In this stage, this is areintroduction period where calories and foods are slowly adjusted to maintain weight loss. Read more:

4. Hcg Diet Phase 4 Maintenance

Phase 4 of the HCG Diet is the phase of continuing weight maintenance for life-long health and fitness. This is an essential part of the HCG diet and it actually begins during Phase 2. This is where you will begin to build the skills necessary for lifetime weight maintenance and healthy living. For example; reading labels as a habit (this will become 2nd nature and shouldn'tstop once you reach your weight loss goals. Also, portion control and learning to listen to your body. The absolute best (&Free!) HCG Diet tips for reaching your weight loss goals safe and fast!

Hcg weight loss foods and recipes are the backbone of the Hcg weight loss program. Not only do the allowed foods help you to lose weight, but they also help get our body into a healthy state.

It is important to understand that while the Hcg hormone does NOT make you lose weight, it does changehowyour body loses weight, and creates a reaction in your body that allows for the rapid weight loss. It is the carefully selected Hcg Diet food list that is responsible for your weight loss; the Hcg just allows your body to continue to burn fat when it would normally go into starvation mode under the calorie restricted diet.

This is good news! This means the Hcg weight loss plan can be surprisingly versatile with the right recipes, and can work with any number of menus, foods sensitivities. The allowed foods are clear of processed and prepared foods and carefully measured for portion control. Instead of processed foods, the food list focuses on clean eating, and consists mostly of vegetables and healthy portions of lean protein, along with some, but limited, carbohydrates. To be clear, this is NOT a ketosis diet when done correctly, and in fact the amount of vegetables and fruit permitted, do not allow the body to go into ketosis. Compared to ketosis diets, this particular approach has been shown to average much higher weight loss rates that range from .5 to 1.5 pounds per day.

In a nutshell: The Hcg Diet allowed foods and guidelines focus on portion control, increased vegetables and proteins, and a food list that is comprised of clean, unprocessed foods.

The Original HCG Diet is known for its restrictive and unforgiving500 calorie VLCD (very low calorie diet.) Some versions of the diet have evolved to allowfor an HCG Diet expanded food list.

Learning to cook on the diet, can be a struggle for some patients, however, it is also an excellent opportunity to learn how to cook new foods that are clean, nutritious and healthy. Since the protocol does not allow foods that are processed or prepared (bye bye alcohol, fast food and frozen dinners) this can be an excellent path to learning how to prepare meals that will nourish your body, and make long term weight maintenance easy.

Take a look at our recipe section, and discover amazing Hcg Diet Recipes that include Southwestern chicken, strawberry cupcakes, garlic baked shrimp, mouth-watering grilled asparagus, and chai beverages. While it may be intimidating to look at the allowed foods list and feel limited, it won't take long before you realize just how versatile and delishous it can be.

We have also included a list of our best recipe and cooking articles that cover everything from how to cook on the protocol, spices to use to increase your metabolism, tips for dining out and tips for eating during special occasions.

How to Buy Hcg Injection Kits, Drops and Pellets

Hcg Diet Info has put together a complete guide to buying Hcg Kits and Programs online: How to Buy Hcg injections online (Drops and Pellets too.)

In the last few years, the FDA-approved telemedicine industry has grown and allowed doctors to prescribe and care for individuals wanting to follow the protocol. You can now safely buy Hcg kits online, that come with a complete program overseen by a medical doctor and Hcg weight loss experts and nutritionists. This has grown to be one of the most beneficial medical weight loss programs in the world now.

Tips for buying Hcg and Hcg weight loss programs: One of the first things to take into consideration when buying Hcg, is which form of Hcg you feel comfortable with, how soon you would like to start your diet, and the level of support you will need. The latter tends to be the biggest difference between various Hcg sources with some companies offering minimal support (better for veterans and pros that want to buy a bare bones Hcg kit to save money) and other companies offering extensive diet support, while yet another offering custom dosage and protocol support, and complete medical doctor hand-holding, along with a year of nutritionist services (even after the diet is completed.) These may seem like small differences but they can add up to be an extreme value for your money, as well as offer peace of mind.

The sources recommended in Hcg Diet Infooffer each of the acceptable choices that can be used with the original Hcg weight loss protocol: Hcg injections, Hcg Diet Drops (Prescription or Homeopathic), and Prescription Hcg Pellets. The Hcg Buy Guide also offers answers to dozens of frequently asked questions about buying Hcg Kits and Hcg weight loss programs online. Please note: Over the counter hormone free diet drops should NOT be used with the original protocol and can be dangerous if combined with the VLCD (very low calorie menu.) These over the counter drops have been addressed and dismissed largely by the FDA for good reason- they are NOT safe with the original protocol. Read: How to know if my Hcg Drops are Real, for more information.

Exercise is an important part of healthy living, even without wanting to lose weight. While the original protocol insistedexercise was not necessary, most of the evolvedprotocols include and encourage a consistent exercise routine simply because it is a healthy lifestyle option and the benefits are many.

For those currently active, in most cases, it is ok to continue as usual, although some may find it useful to lighten their workout for the first week of being on the protocol. For those who are new to working out, a low impact daily workout of at least 20 minutes a day is recommended to start. Recommended activities include: walking (brisk), swimming, yoga (no hot yoga practices yet), and pilates. Level of activity is extremely light the first week of phase 2 on the HCG Diet and increases as the individual feels ready. It is highly advised that the chosen workouts are something enjoyable, and not something you dread doing every day.

The HCG Diet can be complicated and so specific, you are almost certain to experiencechallenges along the way. While it might not seem welcome, It is a large part of the learning process for long term managementsuccess. There will be temptation to stray from your planned diet, and there may even be times when you stray by accident. Yes, it can happen: Aunt Sally forgot to tell you she adds sugar toher famous holiday vinaigrettedressing, or the restaurant neglected to tell you there's bread crumb mixed right into the hamburger patty which you so carefully ordered without a bun. Of course there's the good old oops, I assumed that hot sauce was just hot sauce and didn't realize it had 9 grams of sugar. There's your first lesson; always double-check ingredientsand don't eat it unless you're sure. A better lesson if you can't see all ingredients, don't eat it! The less processed foods you eat, the better. See, it's all part of the big picture and building the skillsto be fit and thin for life.

Dr. Simeons manuscript, Pounds and Inches is the original book that outlines every detail of the Hcg weight loss protocol. Dr. Simeons has been very specific in his words, outlining all aspects of the diet. This includes the original 500 calorie menu, the effects of hCG on the body, hCG dosage, how to inject hCG, how to handle stalls and plateaus, and a solid overview transitioning from phase 2 to phase 3, which many dieters can find challenging.

Regardless of which version of the protocol the patient is following, it can still be helpful to read the manuscript. Not only does this allow the Hcg dieter to understand the intention of the diet, but it can also help establish a solid foundation of preparation, and help avoid challenges by answering many of the most frequently asked questions.

Our editor has taken the time to separate the original manuscript by chapter, making it easy to navigate and locate individual topics. We also offer an MP3 audio version (audiobook) of the Pounds and Inches manuscript, as well as a PDF version. HCG Diet Plan Food List & Meal Plan Menu Guide

Posted: June 21, 2018 at 11:45 am

Trying to stick to a strict diet can be hard right? I know it is for me!

In this article I'm going to show you how you can create a super healthy meal plan that is tasty and easy to stick to!

In order to be successful on the HCG weight loss protocol, not only is it important to follow the guidelines set forth by Dr. Simeon, but it is imperative that you follow and maintain a very low calorie diet, consuming no more than 500 calories a day. More importantly though is how those 500 calories are made up. While most of us eat more than 500 calories in just one sitting at our favorite restaurant, the HCG diet is very specific in just how to spread those calories out through your day.

While the list of HCG approved foods may seem short, it is compiled carefully so your body can easily lose weight and you can plan your meals easily. Some of the most successful dieters will tell contribute their success to meal planning and finding recipes that change things up, meaning they dont get bored with their food choices.

Whats on the HCG Phase 2 Food List?

Before we go through the list of food you are allowed to eat during the diet, its important to take your own dietary needs into account. If you are diabetic, or have food allergies, you and your doctor will need to come up with a complementary diet plan that is tailored to your specific needs. If there are foods on the list that you just dont like to eat, you cannot replace it with a food you like, unless it is also on the list.

To ensure you are eating the correct amount you may want to invest in a small kitchen scale, especially for your protein. If possible, your proteins should be organic, and look for grass-fed red meats. For all other approved foods, they should be organic as well, and most of your fruits and vegetables can be found at your local farmers market.

For protein, you can eat up to 200 grams per day, but only 100 grams per meal. Trim the fat, and do not cook anything on the bone.

Vegetables should be on your plate regardless of if you are on HCG phase 2 or not, but you have a bit more variety when it comes to these. Vegetables should only take up one cup of two meals, making it two cups per day. Dont eat all two cups in one sitting, break them up as the protocol says to.

Many of the fruits we enjoy can contain high amounts of sugar, so although they are a part of a healthy daily diet, there are only a few fruits you can safely eat while on HCG phase 2, and even then you can only eat two servings a day.

Just about everyone likes a little starch throughout their day, whether its a morning bagel or a warm dinner roll. The HCG diet protocol is very limiting in what starches are allowed, so while you might miss that danish from your favorite coffee shop, you wont miss the weight you lose.

The only starches allowed are Melba toast or Grissini breadsticks, and these should be used as sparingly as possible.

For everything else you eat throughout the day, there are rules attached to that as well. While you may not pay much attention the seasonings you use to add flavor, the HCG diet makes you become keenly aware of everything you eat. Although a short list, it does make sense since the diet is trying to keep you from mistakenly eating foods that could sabotage your progress.

These miscellaneous items can be added to your HCG meal plan throughout the diet:

Instructions for HCG phase 2 can seem limiting, but they work to help your body lose weight quickly, and to not retain fluids.Sounds tough right? Trying to keep all these rules in your head certainly can be!

Although we'll be getting into some more detail shortly you can cut out most of the hard work in remembering all the rules by grabbing a FREE COPY of my Top 7 HCG Diet Recipes. I've even thrown in a little bonus for you. My top list of recipes will help take the hard work out of meal selection and grocery shopping.

How you consume these foods daily is why meal planning really helps. Youll already know what youre eating when, so you can look forward to your favorite meal, and you dont need to worry about what you can eat later. Most users of the protocol find it best to have two small meals a day at lunch and dinner, and only drinking coffee or tea at breakfast.

Still, other people find they have better success by spreading their meals out and eating breakfast and dinner, or dividing up their meals and by eating lunch and having a fruit serving at breakfast time. A lunchtime option is especially important to some dieters who may feel pressured to go out to lunch with their coworkers, or dont want to talk about their lack of lunch with friends.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when following the HCG diet is that you should never combine two of any one category together in the same meal, that means you should not eat your apple and orange at lunch, while having cabbage and celery for dinner. My free Top 7 HCG Diet Recipes takes all of this into account so I highly recommend you check that to make sure you're on the right track.

While you are making your way through the HCG diet phase 2, youll find that changing up your daily meals and snacks alleviates the boredom you can sometimes feel when you eat the same thing each day. While a small, grilled chicken breast is easy to make and refrigerate for the week, it might not seem appetizing four days later.

A Typical Day On The HCG Diet

Breakfast: Coffee or tea with one serving of fruit

Lunch:100 grams of any one approved protein, 1 vegetable, 1 fruit, and 1 starch. Some dieters like to eat a heavier protein at lunch time, and a light one, such as fish, for dinner.

Dinner:100 grams of any one approved protein, 1 vegetable, 1 fruit and 1 starch.

It is not uncommon, while on the protocol, to find that you do not feel hungry, and you should not feel alarmed. The most important thing to remember about the diet is that you should never exceed 500 calories. So, if you find youre not as hungry one day, then its alright to skip a fruit, vegetable, or starch. However, do not skip your protein, because your body needs it in order to function properly. If you find yourself weak, or feeling hungry, then do not skimp in any way. Better click here and learn what can be the consequences.

The goal is to always eat to your hunger.

It is through this mechanism that your body will begin to breakdown the fat stored in your body, and you will see changes not only in your weight but in your overall shape.

What HCG Phase 2 Recipes Are Available?

If you search online for HCG recipes youre sure to find hundreds of them. HCG diet recipes are unique in that there are only a few ingredients to work with, you cant add too many vegetables to one plate, and no starches are allowed either. Although its restrictive, the lack of variety means dieters need to be creative, so youre not likely to run out of HCG recipes anytime during phase 2. Here are a few HCG diet recipes that are most popular:

Roasted Steak and Onions -100 grams of flank steak seasoned how you like, in a medium sized skillet. Add one small sliced onion and a splash of water to the skillet and saut the onions to desired doneness.

Roast Tomato Slices 1 tomato per serving, 1 clove crushed garlic, 1 sprig rosemary chopped garlic salt. Slice tomatoes into thin slices, spread out on parchment paper lined cookie sheet, sprinkle with garlic salt and chopped rosemary. Place the garlic between the slices. For some tasty treats to break up the monotony, these HCG diet phase 2 recipes for drinks can keep you motivated.

Frozen Strawberry Slushy

Blend the ice, strawberries, and vanilla in the blender until a slush forms. Taste, and add stevia to desired sweetness. Pour into a cup and enjoy! Strawberries out of season? No worries! Instead use 4 frozen strawberries and 1 cup of water. Additional alternatives are to use flavored liquid stevia to give yourself some variety and avoid boredom and cravings. Try replacing your vanilla and stevia with Chocolate flavored stevia for a super tasty treat!

Blended Coffee

Blend and enjoy! Once again you can get creative with flavored liquid stevia and use any of these flavors of Stevia, vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, cinnamon, or peppermint! Who needs a coffee shop now?

Grapefruit Spritzer

Mix the grapefruit juice and orange stevia drops together, gently stir into sparkling mineral water and pour over crushed ice.

If you think you cant have desserts on the diet, think again. To satisfy chocolate cravings you can use cocoa powder, but it must be sugar free and all natural. Phase 2, or HCG P2 dessert recipes really rely on using the best cocoa powders, so be sure to read your ingredients carefully.

Chocolate Cheesecake -100g of low/no fat cottage cheese,1 Tbsp cocoa powder, splash of vanilla extract, liquid stevia to taste.Puree the ingredients together, and then taste to see if youd like more stevia added. Garnish with strawberry if youd like, and you can again use flavored stevia for some variety.

Baked Toffee Apples 1 apple thinly sliced, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1tsp stevia, tsp. nutmeg, 1 tbsp. water, English toffee stevia. Combine all dry ingredients in a small mixing bowl and mix well. Place the liquids into a small plastic zip bag along with apple slices and seal.Shake well, lay flat in baking dish and bake at 350 for 25 30 minutes until desired doneness.

What is hyperemesis gravidarum? Pregnant Kate Middleton again suffering rare severe morning sickness condition – Mirror.co.uk

Posted: September 5, 2017 at 9:51 am

The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her third child - and is once again suffering from the severe morning sickness which blighted her previous pregnancies.

Kate was in the early stages of her pregnancy with Prince George when she was admitted to hospital in December 2012 with hyperemesis gravidarum, a rare condition which causes severe vomiting during pregnancy.

Awareness of her tendency to the condition meant her second pregnancy was announced relatively early, rather than waiting for the 12 week milestone, as she cancelled public duties due to sickness.

For women suffering hyperemesis gravidarum, the severity of the vomiting can cause dehydration, weight loss and a build-up of toxins in the blood or urine called ketosis.

It affects 3.5 per 1,000 pregnant women and can cause women to vomit blood.

Symptoms also include severe nausea, low blood pressure and fast heart rate, headaches, lethargy or confusion.

It is treated by giving women fluids intravenously and by anti-sickness tablets.

The cause of HG is unknown. The leading theories state that it is an adverse reaction to the hormonal changes of pregnancy.

It is more common in multiple pregnancies and is commonly experienced during the first 8 to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

A scientific study has given preliminary evidence there may be a genetic component.

Symptoms can be aggravated by hunger, fatigue, prenatal vitamins (especially those containing iron), odours, and diet.

"In very simple terms hyperemesis means vomiting a lot and gravidarum means in pregnancy," said consultant obstetrician Daghni Rajasingam, spokeswoman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2014.

"The diagnosis is given when women cannot keep food or fluid down because she has severe vomiting.

"The women who are vomiting pretty much constantly, that cannot keep any nutrients down, they need to be admitted to hospital."

She said the length of stay in hospital depends on each patient but many women are discharged in a matter of days.

"It depends on how well the woman is keeping fluids down," Ms Rajasingam added.

She said the condition is thought to be caused by elevated levels of the "pregnancy hormone" hCG.

The body begins to produce human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) after conception.

While cases of very severe, protracted and prolonged periods of vomiting are rare, nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is very common, affecting 60% to 80% of women.

About 5% of mothers-to-be will be admitted to hospital during their pregnancy with some degree of the condition, Ms Rajasingam said.

Once admitted, doctors will monitor women and let them go home once they can keep fluids down.

Some alternative therapies are used to help reduce the symptoms and duration of the nausea and vomiting, including acupuncture, travel sickness bands, eating ginger and other herbal remedies.

The condition is most common in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, Ms Rajasingam added.

Caitlin Dean, trustee of the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support, also suffered from the condition.

"Imagine having a stomach bug that lasts for days and days, months and months - it is just relentless," she said.

"Any movement, any sound, any smell just makes you vomit.

"I vomited 20 to 30 times a day for the first few months, in the latter part it was just once or twice a day but it's still unpleasant.

"One of the big issues with it is isolation because is causes many women to be bed-bound.

"There is a real lack of understanding about the condition."

The hCG Diet helped this woman lose 85 pounds, but this inspired her to keep the weight off – Yahoo Health

Weight-Loss Win is an original Yahoo series that shares the inspiring stories of people who have shed pounds healthfully.

Folland OConnor is 31 and 51 tall, and she currently weighs 135 pounds. In 2011, she saw an unflattering picture of herself that motivated her to change her lifestyle. This is the story of her weight-loss journey.

The turning point

I hate to say it,but I really never thought my weight was an issue. When I was fat, I never wanted to do anything active, or anything at all really, besides watch TV, eat food, and hang out with my friends. I never had high energy levels or interest in sports when I was bigger, so I never ran into major issues because of my size. What prompted the weight loss was mostly an aesthetic choice. I always wanted to be skinny but never had the willpower to actually get there. I just kind of accepted my body as it was and figured I wasnt built to be skinny. I thought I could never actually lose weight and that I was just built to be curvy or I was big boned.

My parents started expressing their concern for my health more often as I got bigger, but I thought they were just exaggerating and that I was an average weight. Looking back now, I just cant even fathom how I was so ignorant about my size.

I never realized how big I was until I saw a picture of myself from the side. The picture was taken at an event I attended and I happened to be painting something on a canvas when the photo was snapped. I wasnt able to pose or work my angles; it was just a picture of me from the side, not paying attention and I looked huge. The moment I saw that picture I vividly remember thinking, Oh my gosh Im fat. I had this huge epiphany.

I was wearing size 22 jeans, I couldnt buy a shirt in less than an XL, I had to buy bras in a plus-size store, but still, it was seeing myself in that photo that actually hit home. I was 25, 51, 220 pounds, and I was obese.

Folland OConnor saw a photo of herself that inspired her to lose weight.

The changes

Since college, I had always had some diet plan in mind or some workout routine I swore I would finally follow, but I never really committed to anything. I tried to eat healthy for a day or two but quickly fell off the wagon. I had zero self-control and knew absolutely nothing about losing weight or healthy eating.

When I finally accepted the fact that I was fat, I decided to simply start researching diets and weight loss as a whole. It was so overwhelming and complicated. I couldnt figure out whether carbs were bad or good, whether fat made me fat or not, whether artificial sweeteners would kill me, make me skinny or make me bigger.

Working out was a whole other bag of complications. How I should work out. Cardio? Weights? Yoga? I just couldnt get it straight. I decided to find a strict, clean, basic diet plan and just focus on eating first, because, more than anything, I hated working out.

Through my research I found some random site for a naturopath who touted a crazy weight-loss plan, so I met with her and she introduced me to the hCG Diet. Most people will have heard of it by now, and it is pretty controversial, but its what got me on the road to a healthy weight.

For those that dont know, hCG is an extremely strict, very low-calorie diet combined with a hormone shot. It was completely bonkers and probably not the healthiest way for me to lose weight, but it promised immediate results. So I bought all of the ingredients from this holistic voodoo doctor and tried it out.

Folland OConnor initially lost weight with the hCG diet.

I did two rounds of hCG, losing 60 pounds over the course of about four months. Losing that much weight that quickly was completely surreal and I fell off the wagon pretty fast once the rounds were finished. Over the next year or so I gained 30 back, but my life had been changed forever. I started becoming more active, my self-confidence skyrocketed, and I actually started to realize how unhealthy I was. Even after keeping 30 pounds off, I was still overweight, so eventually I started hitting the gym and actually focused on living a healthy lifestyle. I got my life under control, and my weight followed.

While losing weight, I felt like I could do anything. I realized that everything in my life was able to be changed. I changed careers, left my cheating boyfriend, bought a condo, joined a gym, and started playing roller derby. I felt confident and powerful, and my life was changing drastically in so many positive ways.

Keeping motivated isnt hard when everything in your life is positive. People were constantly complimenting me, my job got easier, I was succeeding in a new sport that I loved, and the weight kept falling off of me.

When I did hit a plateau, I just gave myself a small break, focused on maintenance and then reassessed my diet plan. My new boyfriend was alsovery interested in fitness, and he always had some awesome advice or a new recipe for us to try out together. He kept me strong, confident, and on track through the entire process. Even to this day, he is who I look to for inspiration.

The after

Everything in my life changed. The obvious things of course, my energy levels, my clothing size, and my health, but less obvious things also changed. My self-esteem and confidence levels sky rocketed, and my willingness to take more risks and be more outgoing all changed for the better, but the biggest change I experienced was in how people treated me. People are nicer to me now, they try harder for me to like them, strangers gravitate toward me, and I have to put in much less effort to forge relationships. Its amazing how people treat me like a completely different person, but in the most positive ways.

A few things surprised me about the weight-loss process. It was not actually that hard to lose weight when I was 220 pounds, even though it seemed so daunting at the time. But, with all of the knowledge Ive gained, Ive realized that I was so large I actually had to eat a lot of calories every day to maintain that weight. As soon as I started eating less, I lost weight. It was truly quite simple. Its much harder to cut weight now that Im smaller every calorie counts.

Folland OConnor was surprised by what changed in her life after losing weight.

I lost ring sizes and a whole shoe size! I knew I was losing weight, and a lot of it, but it never occurred to me that my fingers and my feet may have also been carrying extra weight. I went from a size 9 ring to a size 6.5, and I went from a size 8 1/2 shoe to a 7 1/2 shoe. That still totally amazes me.

The maintenance

I follow the Strong Lifts weight routine and hit the gym three to fourtimes per week. I also play competitive-level roller derby with the Anarchy Angels Roller Derby team and practice on skates two times per week. I eat a low-carb diet and try to keep my calorie intake around 1,200. That might sound low, but keep in mind, Im only 51.

I eat with purpose and awareness. No more mindless snacking unless Im on a cheat meal and, yes, I allow myself cheat meals not cheat days every so often. I live life with moderation and try not to reward myself with food. Whatever I do eat, I really try to enjoy. Dieting doesnt need to mean bad food.

Folland OConnor is inspired by her boyfriend.

My boyfriend has lost 55 pounds himself and trains harder than anyone Ive ever seen. He wants to be the best version of himself and pushes me to be the best version of myself. We make tons of different low-carb recipes together and support each other through all of our transitions. He keeps me on the right track and always pulls me back on that wagon when Im distracted by Thai food and doughnuts.

The struggles

Obviously, I have impulse-control issues with food. You dont become 220 pounds without having some issues with eating. I am still constantly fighting my own urges when it comes to my diet. To this day, I can easily out-eat a grown man (including my 64 boyfriend). If I let myself go, stop being diligent, or give up my gym routines, I will quickly lose control again. It is a constant battle, but it is worth it because every pound I lose and every pound I keep off means one more minute on this earth living my life to its fullest.

Advice

Its calories in versuscalories out. At the end of the day, diet was always the most important part. No matter how hard I tried, I could never outrun my fork. I work out, but thats mostly because it makes me better at sports. Diet to look good, lift weights to look good naked.
