Vatican lending hand in adult stem cell research

The Catholic Church has entered into an agreement with a US company that specializes in extracting adult stem cells. The Vatican Department of Science and Faith has made an economic commitment of one million dollars to NeoStem through their charitable foundation.

Patient Advocacy Day and Stem Cell Update: Concluding Remarks

(Part 7 of 7) Peter Donovan, director of UC-Irvine's Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, gave the concluding remarks for "Synapses Firing: Connections Made", a patient advocacy event hosted by the California stem cell funding agency (CIRM). The 100+ people in attendance heard from patient advocates about living with neurodegenerative disease and from scientists about recent progress in stem cell research that may lead to new treatments. The event was held on May 7th, 2011 at UC-Irvine's Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center.
