About Regenerative Medicine – Center for Regenerative …

Posted: July 8, 2018 at 10:44 pm

Though great progress has been made in medicine, current evidence-based and palliative treatments are increasingly unable to keep pace with patients' needs, especially given our aging population. There are few effective ways to treat the root causes of many diseases, injuries and congenital conditions. In many cases, clinicians can only manage patients' symptoms using medications or devices.

Regenerative medicine is a game-changing area of medicine with the potential to fully heal damaged tissues and organs, offering solutions and hope for people who have conditions that today are beyond repair.

Regenerative medicine itself isn't new the first bone marrow and solid-organ transplants were done decades ago. But advances in developmental and cell biology, immunology, and other fields have unlocked new opportunities to refine existing regenerative therapies and develop novel ones.

The Center for Regenerative Medicine takes three interrelated approaches:

Rejuvenation. Rejuvenation means boosting the body's natural ability to heal itself. Though after a cut your skin heals within a few days, other organs don't repair themselves as readily.

But cells in the body once thought to be no longer able to divide (terminally differentiated) including the highly specialized cells constituting the heart, lungs and nerves have been shown to be able to remodel and possess some ability to self-heal. Teams within the center are studying how to enhance self-healing processes.

Replacement. Replacement involves using healthy cells, tissues or organs from a living or deceased donor to replace damaged ones. Organ transplants, such as heart and liver transplants, are good examples.

The center aims to expand opportunities for transplants by finding ways to overcome the ongoing donor shortage, the need for immunosuppression and challenges with organ rejection.

Regenerative medicine holds the promise of definitive, affordable health care solutions that heal the body from within.

Stem cells have the ability to develop through a process called differentiation into many different types of cells, such as skin cells, brain cells, lung cells and so on. Stem cells are a key component of regenerative medicine, as they open the door to new clinical applications.

Regenerative medicine teams are studying a variety of stem cells, including adult and embryonic stem cells. Also being studied are various types of progenitor cells, such as those found in umbilical cord blood, and bioengineered cells called induced pluripotent stem cells. Each type has unique qualities, with some being more versatile than others.

Many of the regenerative therapies under development in the Center for Regenerative Medicine begin with the particular patient's own cells. For example, a patient's own skin cells may be collected, reprogrammed in a laboratory to give them certain characteristics, and delivered back to the patient to treat his or her disease.

Stem cells and their use in regenerative medicine have been in the media a lot lately. But what exactly does it mean? Physicians and researchers in the Center for Regenerative Medicine say it has to do with developing completely new ways to treat and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, and degenerative nerve, bone and joint conditions.

Stem cells are unquestionably some of the most amazing cells in the human body. These are undifferentiated cells that do not have a direct blueprint or specific destiny. They can become differentiated into specialized cells anywhere throughout the body. They are classified as 2 different types of cells, those that are from embryonic origin and those called adult stem cells.

In the developing embryo, these cells differentiate into ectoderm, endoderm, and mesoderm. These give us rise to our spine, nerves, and all our organs. Adult stem cells are primarily used to repair, replenish, and regenerate tissues.

Historically, stem cells can come from a variety of tissues. These include umbilical cord, fetal tissue, adipose, or the best source bone marrow.

Bone marrow stem cells have the highest numbers of cells when collected and tested compared to all others. This is by far the preferred method of stem cell therapy because of sheer numbers and the fact that they are coming from your own body. This is called autologous therapy.

Stem cell research worldwide goes back over 100 years, the German research is documented back to 1860. There are a wide range of studies and articles describing its dramatic benefit for chronic diseases. Many of these publications are available for you to read on my website.

In performing stem cell therapy, extremely strict guidelines must be followed in coordination with a specialized protocol. This ensures accuracy, sterility, and quality control of the procedure. This information gathered from the procedure, including various forms of documentation can be used for medical publication at a later date. Physician notes and procedure as well as a questionnaire filled out by patients periodically are part of this process. This enables the highest level of procedure and documentation possible.

Initially, patients are examined, appropriate blood or other testing is done and reviewed and schedule is made to begin procedure. Typically, stem cell therapy is done within 2 weeks of initial consultation.

On the day of procedure, stem cells are extracted from Bone Marrow, this takes 5-10 minutes then patients sit and relax while the processing is done. It is then washed and centrifuged 3 times to allow separation of cells and harvest stem cells. At the end of the procedure, microscopic analysis can estimate the number of stem cells available for injection. Injection can be done either into joint, connective tissue, muscle or for all other organs or systemic diseases, intravenously. Intranasal technique also used for MS, Parkinsons, and Alzheimers disease. Intravenous and nebulizer is used for COPD, Emphysema, and Pumonary Fibrosis.

Research shows the therapy may benefit the following:

Tour2India4Health is a medical value provider that offers access to the stem cell therapy for patients from any corner of the world. We offer low cost stem cell therapy at the best hospitals in India.

How things function at Tour2India4Health Group:

Stem cells are cells that have the potential to develop into some or many different cell types in the body, depending on whether they are multipotent or pluripotent. Serving as a sort of repair system, they can theoretically divide without limit to replenish other cells for as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each "daughter" cell has the potential to either remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell.

There are three classes of stem cells i.e totipotent, pluripotent and multipotent (also known as unipotent).

Many different terms are used to describe various types of stem cells, often based on where in the body or what stage in development they come from. You may have heard the following terms:

Adult Stem Cells or Tissue-specific Stem Cells: Adult stem cells are tissue-specific, meaning they are found in a given tissue in our bodies and generate the mature cell types within that particular tissue or organ. It is not clear whether all organs, such as the heart, contain stem cells. The term adult stem cells is often used very broadly and may include fetal and cord blood stem cells.

Fetal Stem Cells: As their name suggests, fetal stem cells are taken from the fetus. The developing baby is referred to as a fetus from approximately 10 weeks of gestation. Most tissues in a fetus contain stem cells that drive the rapid growth and development of the organs. Like adult stem cells, fetal stem cells are generally tissue-specific, and generate the mature cell types within the particular tissue or organ in which they are found.

Cord Blood Stem Cells: At birth the blood in the umbilical cord is rich in blood-forming stem cells. The applications of cord blood are similar to those of adult bone marrow and are currently used to treat diseases and conditions of the blood or to restore the blood system after treatment for specific cancers. Like the stem cells in adult bone marrow, cord blood stem cells are tissue-specific.

Embryonic Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are derived from very early embryos and can in theory give rise to all cell types in the body. While these cells are already helping us better understand diseases and hold enormous promise for future therapies, there are currently no treatments using embryonic stem cells accepted by the medical community.

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (IPS cells): In 2006, scientists discovered how to reprogram cells with a specialized function (for example, skin cells) in the laboratory, so that they behave like an embryonic stem cell. These cells, called induced pluripotent cells or IPS cells, are created by inducing the specialized cells to express genes that are normally made in embryonic stem cells and that control how the cell functions.

Stem Cell Therapy in IndiaEmbryonic stem cells are derived from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst: the fertilized egg, called the zygote, divides and forms two cells; each of these cells divides again, and so on. Soon there is a hollow ball of about 150 cells called the blastocyst that contains two types of cells, the trophoblast and the inner cell mass. Embryonic stem cells are obtained from the inner cell mass.

Stem cells can also be found in small numbers in various tissues in the fetal and adult body. For example, blood stem cells are found in the bone marrow that give rise to all specialized blood cell types. Such tissue-specific stem cells have not yet been identified in all vital organs, and in some tissues like the brain, although stem cells exist, they are not very active, and thus do not readily respond to cell injury or damage.

Stem cells can also be obtained from other sources, for example, the umbilical cord of a newborn baby is a source of blood stem cells. Recently, scientists have also discovered the existence of cells in baby teeth and in amniotic fluid that may also have the potential to form multiple cell types. Research on these cells is at a very early stage.

Stem cell therapy is the use of stem cells to treat certain diseases. Stem cells are obtained from the patients own blood bone marrow, fat and umbilical cord tissue or blood. They are progenitor cells that lead to creation of new cells and are thus called as generative cells as well.

The biological task of stem cells is to repair and regenerate damaged cells. Stem cell therapy exploits this function by administering these cells systematically and in high concentrations directly into the damaged tissue, where they advance its self-healing. The process that lies behind this mechanism is largely unknown, but it is assumed that stem cells discharge certain substances which activate the diseased tissue. It is also conceivable that single damaged somatic cells, e.g. single neurocytes in the spinal cord or endothelium cells in vessels, are replaced by stem cells. Most scientists agree that stem cell research has great life-saving potential and could revolutionize the study and treatment of diseases and injuries.

Stem cell therapy is useful in certain degenerative diseases like

If stem cell therapy is an option, a detailed treatment plan is prepared depending on the type of treatment necessary. Once the patient has consented to the treatment plan, an appointment is scheduled for bone marrow extraction. Please note that this is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, so it is important that patients do not take any blood-thinning medication in the ten days prior to the appointment. It is necessary for each patient to consult their own doctor before discontinuing this type of medication.

The treatment procedure include:

Bone Marrow Extraction: Bone marrow is extracted from the hip bone by the physicians. This procedure normally takes around 30 minutes. First, local anesthetic is administered to the area of skin where the puncture will be made. Then, a thin needle is used to extract around 150-200 ml of bone marrow. The injection of local anesthetic can be slightly painful, but the patient usually does not feel the extraction of bone marrow.

Isolation, Analysis and Concentration of the Stem Cells in the Laboratory: The quality and quantity of the stem cells contained in the collected bone marrow are tested at the laboratory. First, the stem cells are isolated. Then a chromatographical procedure is used to separate them from the red and white blood corpuscles and plasma. The sample is tested under sterile conditions so that the stem cells, which will be administered to the patient, are not contaminated with viruses, bacteria or fungi. Each sample is also tested for the presence of viral markers such as HIV, hepatitis B and C and cytomegalia. The cleaned stem cells are counted and viability checks are made. If there are enough viable stem cells, i.e. more than two million CD34+ cells with over 80 percent viability, the stem cell concentrate is approved for patient administration.

Stem Cell Implantation: The method of stem cell implantation depends on the patient's condition. There are four different ways of administering stem cells:

Intravenous administration:

It is important to understand that while stem cell therapy can help alleviate symptoms in many patients and slow or even reverse degenerative processes, it does not work in all cases. Based on additional information, patient's current health situation and/or unforeseen health risks, the medical staff can always, in the interest of the individual patient, propose another kind of stem cell transplantation or in exceptional situations cancel the treatment.

The side effects of stem cell therapy differ from person to person. Listed below are the side effects of stem cell therapy;

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, all is considered to be experimental, with the exception of bone marrow transplants. However, the guidelines that were put into place in 2007 are largely non-enforceable. Regardless, stem cell therapy is legalized in India. Umbilical cord and adult stem cell treatment are considered permissible. Embryonic stem cell therapy and research is restricted.

There is about a 60% to 80% overall success rate in the use of stem cell therapy in both India and around the world. However, success rates vary depending on the disease being treated, the institute conducting the procedures, and the condition of the patient. In order to receive complete information you will have to contact the medical institutes and ask specific questions concerning the patient's condition.

Adult Stem Cell Therapy 101, MSCTC – University of Kansas …

Posted: July 7, 2018 at 8:43 pm

The initial concept of regenerative medicine dates all the way back to 330 BC, when Aristotle observed that a lizard could grow back the lost tip of its tail. Slowly over time, humans have grown to understand regenerative medicine, and how it may change the way we treat diseases. It's been only relatively recently that adult (non-embryonic) stem cell therapy, a type of regenerative medicine, has gathered fast momentum. The below video illustrates key (not all) highlights in how stem cell therapy research has progressed over the last several decades.

Adult (non-embryonic) stem cells are unspecialized or undifferentiated cells, which means they have yet to develop into a specific cell type. Found in most adult tissues, adult stem cells have two primary properties:

Simply put, adult stem cells have the potential to grow into any of the body's more than 200 cell types.

Adult stem cells have been found in most parts of the body, including brain, bone marrow, blood vessels, skin, teeth and heart. There are typically a small number of stem cells in each tissue. Due to their small number and rate of division (growth), it is difficult to grow adult stem cells in large numbers. Scientists at the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center are working to understand how to grow large amounts of adult stem cells in cell culture. These scientists are also working with more "primitive" stem cells, isolated from the umbilical cord after normal births.

These stem cells are in much higher abundance than in adult tissues, can be differentiated into several different cell types, and their capacity to divide is much faster, making them good candidates for applications in treating injury or disease. An example of this is the use of these cells in treating Graft vs. Host Disease (GvHD), a condition which affects approximately 40-50% of patients receiving allogeneic transplants (i.e., transplant from another person) for blood cancers by taking advantage of a key immunosuppressive characteristic the cells possess.

The practice of stem cell therapy is nothing new: One of the oldest forms of it is the bone marrow transplant, which has been actively practiced since the late 1960s. Since then, scientists haven't slowed downwith the advancement of adult stem cell therapy. Every day, scientists worldwide are researching new ways we can harness stem cells to develop effective new treatments for a host of diseases. In the case of a patient suffering with a blood cancer such as leukemia, a bone marrow transplant will replace their unhealthy blood cells with healthy ones. This same concept - inserting healthy cells so they may multiply and form new tissue or repair diseased tissue - can be applied to other forms of stem cell therapy.

Stem cell research continues to advance as scientists learn how an organism develops from a single cell and how healthy cells replace damaged cells. For example, the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center is collaborating to investigate the potential of a select group of umbilical cord stem cells in the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gerhig's disease). Developing a stem cell treatment that has been shown to be both safe and efficacious is not as simple as removing stem cells from one part of the body and putting it in another.

Working with appropriate regulatory agencies, the Midwest Stem Cell therapy Center is conducting R&D activities that will permit the Center to conduct human clinical trials on a variety of diseases over the next several years. This process - similar to the development of a new drug - will, when completed, assure patients in both clinical trials and eventually patients using the approved product, that the product is safe for use in humans and the stem cells being administered are effective in treating the injury or disease they are being used for.

When considering a cell therapy treatment, it is important to understand how your treatment will be administered and ensure that the provider is well-qualified. Stem cell clinics have popped up around the world, touting 100% success, however, in many cases these experimental treatments have yet to be evaluated by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) or other regulatory agencies in their countries of origin. Reputable centers, including the MSCTC, are working with the FDA to develop regulations that protect the health of the patient and hold providers to high standards of treatment. Without these regulations in place, unqualified providers may endanger patients' health. For example, as in organ transplants, patients that receive stem cell therapy are at risk of their immune system rejecting the transplant. To avoid this, immune system-suppressing drugs must be taken. Further, if stem cells are not manipulated correctly, the receiving patient can be exposed to bacteria, fungi or viruses which have been picked up during the manipulations of the stem cells, or, in some cases, receive cells that are not appropriate for use in treating a specific injury or disease.

What To Expect With Testosterone Shots – Mantality Health

Posted: July 7, 2018 at 8:42 pm

What To Expect With Injectable TestosteroneDeciding to treat low T with injectable testosterone is the first step to a healthier life. Heres what you can expect from testosterone shots.Keyword(s): injectable testosterone

Most peopleknow what testosterone isa male steroid hormone. We associate it with manliness.

But testosterone does more than just promote a healthy sex drive. It also affects body fat, bone density, muscle mass, red blood cell count, and mood.

The normal testosterone levels in men arebetween 300 and 1,000 ng/dL.

But if you get ablood test that shows your levels are far below that, your doctor may suggest testosterone replacement therapy in the form of injectable testosterone.

While its totally normal for men to startlosing some of their testosterone when they hit their 30s or 40s, more rapid declines in testosterone levels couldindicate a more serious problem called low T.

Common symptoms of low T include:

Some men may also notice shrinkagein the size of their penis and testicles, while others may haveswelling of the breasts. These symptoms can take many months before you notice them.

Its at this point that you may consider testosterone replacement therapy.

The injection site is most oftenin the gluteal muscles in the buttocks. But ifyour doctor allows you to do the injections yourself, the injection site would be in your thigh.

Whatever the case, if your doctor recommends injectable testosterone, you need to be realistic. You are not going to drop 25 pounds in a monthor quickly add 2inches.

Thats just not how it works.

The benefits of testosterone therapy will not take years though. It will take a longer amount of time to see some benefits than others as theincreased testosterone starts working on a cellular level.

But if you go into this therapy with realistic expectations, youll probably be pretty satisfied with the changes you eventually see.

In general, you can expect to see results within thefollowing time frames:

On a cellular level, there will be improved insulin sensitivity. Although this improves within the first few days, you may not notice the effects for 3-12 months.

So this is the time where youll probably start to notice some real differences.

Most men report an improvement insex drive, sexual thoughts, fantasy, satisfaction, and libido. There is also an increase in morning erections and ejaculation

At this stage, many men also seea decline in anxiety and aggression. They tend to feel more sociable, awake and attentive. Some report feeling more creative.

A reduction in inflammation typically begins around this third week too, and continuing to lessen throughoutthe remainder of treatment.

Improved erectile function begins around this time and continues to improve over the next several months. Mental alertness and improved memoryare alsoapparent during this time with continued improvement expected.

A slight decrease in triglycerides and total cholesterol begin, while an increase in full erections and sexualperformance are noticeable.

Feelings of depression and lack of motivation begin to lift around the six-week point, althoughthe maximum benefitstake longer to take effect.

In most cases, men report a general satisfaction with their sex lives by the end of the eighth week.

This is the time when youll start to notice a change in lean body mass, fat mass and muscle strength.

There will be an improvement in glycemic control and the formation of red blood cells (known as erythropoiesis) and a decline in blood pressure.

The decreases in LDL cholesterol levels and increases in HDL cholesterol levels continue, though the maximum changes typically occur some time between 6 and 12 months. (Proper diet and exercise play into this too.)

Additionally, there is an increased exercise capacity at this point even for men who experience chronic heart failure.

As mentioned above, many of the benefits are continuing to maximize over the course of your treatment.

At the six-month point, there is increased bone density, as well as a rise in the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels which are typically very low in those with low T.

The list below gives you the overall benefits from using this testosterone replacement therapy.

Keep in mind though that while injected testosteronecan help regulate fat distribution, youlikely wont experience seriousweight changes from hormone therapy alone.

As for maintaining muscle, it should be noted that injectable testosterone and other therapies have been found to help increase muscle mass, but not strength.

Still, the results from injectable testosterone can be life changing. Especially for those who experiencedebilitating symptoms associated with low T.

HCG Diet Food List – HCG Diet

Posted: July 7, 2018 at 8:41 pm

Basics of HCG Approved Food List

While on the HCG diet, Dr. Simeons explains in his protocol that a strict diet of 500 calories a day is necessary in order to see the full effects of the HCG hormone. Within his protocol Pounds and Inches Away published in 1967, Simeons explains that The diet used in conjunction with HCG must not exceed 500 calories per day, and the way these calories are made up is of utmost importance. Simeons knew that simply cutting calories, was not the proper method to weight loss due to the harmful effects certain foods could still have on the body. This methodology is emphasized as he states, if a patient drops the apple and eats an extra breadstick instead, he will not be consuming more calories, but he will not lose weight. This is due to the fact that certain foods, especially fruits and vegetables, could have low caloric value, but are absent from his list due to low nutritional value. These foods can interfere with regular weight loss while on the HCG diet, due to their composition. Simeons points out pimiento peppers, okra, artichokes and pears as examples of foods with few calories, but are still harmful to the body when trying to lose weight.

Something to keep in mind when on the HCG diet is your geographic location. Simeons, who wrote his protocol in Italy, based off of the caloric value of Italian foods, explains that certain modifications should be made if you are dieting in another country. For example, beef in the United States has almost double the calories of South Italian beef, which contains much less fat. Because of this, Simeons substitutes low-grade veal to be used while following the diet. Italian breadsticks, known as Grissini, are perfect for the HCG diet, but are mostly unavailable to people in the U.S. Melba toast can be used instead, even though, as Simeons puts it they are psychologically less satisfying. Even when changes are being made to the diet due to location-based feeding habits, Simeons continues to stress that the total daily intake should not exceed 500 calories. If dieters would like to see the best results, they should follow this protocol, sticking to approved foods. A daily ration should contain 200 grams of fat-free protein, a mix of fruits and vegetables, and a small amount of starch.

In his protocol, Simeons also makes it clear that because the daily dose of HCG drops is consistent for everyone, the same diet should be followed, regardless of who is doing it. The same diet should prove to be effective whether it is a small elderly lady of leisure or a hard working muscular giant. Simeons states that no matter the shape or size of the body, it is able to get all the calories it needs from abnormal fat deposits, regardless of whether you are burning 1,500 or 4,000 calories per day. Simeons emphasizes this point in his protocol, explaining that we use our fat for fuel far more often than we use what we eat to move us during the day. Before diving into the specific foods allowed on the HCG diet, Simeons breaks down a few unique scenarios that could apply to a variety of people trying to follow the HCG diet.

The first example he covers is vegetarians, who are unable to consume any sort of animal protein. In order to obtain the proper amount of protein per day, which is 200 grams, Simeons says they must drink 500 cc or just over 2 cups of skimmed milk per day. When it comes to fruit, vegetables and starch, the vegetarian diet is very similar to that of the HCG diet. However, they will not consume their usual intake of vegetable proteins from legumes such as beans or derived from wheat and nuts. Due to some of these restrictions, vegetarians see about half the average weight loss of non-vegetarians while following this plan. Simeons attributes this to the amount of sugar in the milk that vegetarians need to substitute for animal protein. More information about following the HCG Diet as a vegetarian can be found here.

Faulty dieting is another aspect of the HCG diet that Simeons stresses in his protocol. While on the HCG diet, it is crucial that the approved foods list is followed, as the slightest deviation from the diet has disastrous results as far as the weight is concerned. While taking the HCG hormone and following the strict diet, the body is extremely sensitive to anything that isnt approved by Dr. Simeons list. Small errors can stop the weight loss process, and ruin previous progress. Simeons mentions that people in high official positions are still able to follow the HCG diet with the proper preparations and discipline. If they are at official dinners, it is important to stick to the diet, and work around foods that dont follow the guidelines. This is extremely important due to the fact that a meal against protocol can cost them three days of treatment progress. Something that many patients have questioned about the HCG diet is the use of vitamins. There is a common fear that the restricted diet is limiting the amount of vitamins and minerals they are getting. However, physicians can assure their patients that when they are losing fatty tissue, only the actual fat is being burned, and the vitamins, proteins and minerals contained within the foods are still taken in by the body.

Before going over the list of approved foods, it is important to understand the specific way in which the diet should be followed. Every item on Dr. Simeons list is carefully researched and picked for specific reasons. No variations or substitutes can be used for the approved food list. All items that are not on the list are forbidden, due to the fact that nothing permissible has been left off. When it comes to the daily ration of meat, the 200 grams should be weighed raw, after any visible fat has been trimmed off. Another important aspect Simeons points out is the way in which meals are broken up. A breadstick and an apple can be eaten for breakfast or right before bed, as long as it is deducted from the regular meals. However, it is important to keep in mind that a daily ration of two breadsticks and two fruits should not be consumed at the same time. Furthermore, items saved or not eaten in previous days cannot be transferred and eaten on the next day. Since a new diet can often be difficult to track at first, Simeons highly recommends keeping a diet sheet to reference, with a list of everything consumed each day. If a cheat does occur, find out what you can do about it here. Some patients have asked before about following the diet protocol without taking the HCG hormone. Simeons is very much against doing this, and explains that it will lead to trouble in just a few days. Furthermore, it is important to note that showing off to friends about your dieting powers, without letting them know about taking HCG hormones is also dangerous. This can cause friends to try the same diet without the hormone, which proves to be a failure and can often be dangerous.

When it comes to finding loopholes in the diet and protocol, Simeons suggests finding another way to lose weight instead. His protocol and plan was researched for decades, and each food and procedure is chosen for a specific reason. Loopholes such as eating two small apples instead of the recommended one large apple, can change the caloric value delivered and alter dieting results. Similarly, chicken breast must be from a chicken and cannot be replaced by the breast of any other fowl. Simeons promises results if dieters follow the exact process and protocol, and any attempts at tricking the system or getting around certain foods can prove to be detrimental to results. It is best to follow the process that he lays out in his manual, and follow this list of approved foods, straight from his book Pounds and Inches Away. With each of Dr. Simeons approved foods, we will also dive into the benefits of consuming each when it comes to not only weight loss, but also overall vitamin, mineral and protein content.

Beginning with breakfast, tea or coffee in any quantity is allowed, but no sugar can be added. Instead, a sugar substitute should be used, such as Trulicious Natural Sweetener. A tablespoon of milk is allowed per 24 hours. As for lunch, there are a variety of meat options that are approved by Dr. Simeons. These include 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp. Before cooking all meats, they should be trimmed of all fat and weighed raw. The meat should then be boiled or grilled, with no additional fats added. Any fish such as salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed on the HCG diet. White fish such as Tilapia, Cod and Halibut are permitted, as well as albacore tuna (packed in water only).

Along with your meat choice at lunch, one type of vegetable can be eaten. Most vegetables are approved for the HCG Diet, with the exception of high starch options such as corn and potatoes which are left off the list. All greens are approved on the diet and eating a variety of vegetables each day is highly recommended. The protocol states that 2 cups of vegetables per day should be eaten, and split between both meals. Dieters should choose from the following list: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus and cabbage. One breadstick (Grissini), or if not available, one Melba toast can be eaten as well. For fruits, one apple, a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit rounds out the meal. The fruit or breadstick can be eaten between meals, instead of during lunch or dinner, however, no more than four items on the list should be eaten at one meal. As for dinner, the same four choices should be used as lunch.

Simeons also outlines a variety of rules that go along with what can be eaten while on the diet. Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks that can be used, however, they can be consumed in any quantity, at any time. Check out these 6 beverages you should be drinking when on the HCG Diet. Simeons recommends that HCG dieters consume around 2 liters of fluids per day. Many dieters believe this will cause them to retain more water, however, this is not the case, and furthermore, the body is inclined to store more water when it is not being hydrated enough. The juice of one lemon per day is allowed for any purpose. As for seasoning, salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc. can all be used. However, no oil, butter or dressing should be consumed while on the diet.

With most diets, there are always variations to what the proper foods and processes are to lose weight. The HCG diet has had a resurgence, due to Dr. Oz bringing it to light in 2013. Dr. Ozs vegetable list contains: any kind of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, fennel, cucumber, radishes, celery and asparagus. For proteins he lists white fish, lobster, crab, shrimp and extra lean beef (96% lean ground beef including pot roast). For fruits his list contains apples, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and lemons. For condiments, Dr. Oz approves Braggs Liquid Amino (healthy soy sauce substitute), mustard, apple cider vinegar and any natural herbs or spices. While not drastically different than Simeons approved foods, it is important to note that there are a variety of methods and processes you can follow while on the HCG Diet. We suggest following the approved foods list that is explained in the previous paragraphs, which come straight from Dr. Simeons book, Pounds and Inches Away.

When it comes to salt, Simeons explains that there is no restriction on the use of salt. Instead, he focuses the attention on hydration and ensuring that dieters drink large quantities of water while taking the HCG hormone. The goal of reducing abnormal fat is a completely separate process than salt consumption, and does nothing to affect weight loss. However, although there is no limit, the daily salt intake should roughly stay consistent as not to suddenly alter the bodys balances, which can give faulty results day to day.

Another important aspect of the HCG diet, often overlooked, is the use of cosmetics, which can often be a hidden issue when it comes to weight loss results. Simeons explains that many of his patients were surprised to hear that the fats and oils contained in their creams and ointments could be absorbed after being applied to the skin. Once absorbed, they can interfere with weight loss, in the same way as if the fat and oil had been eaten. Simeons emphasizes the sensitivity of the body while doing the HCG diet and the importance of controlling as many variables as possible. This minor increase in fat and oil can have dramatic effects on the success of the diet. Simeons uses an example of a worker at a beauty parlor, who is constantly handling organic fats, and never had a satisfactory loss of weight until they eliminated contact with these fats and their skin. Simeons solution is to use plain mineral oil, which has no nutritional value. However, mineral oil should not be used in preparing food, since it has laxative qualities and can absorb fat-soluble vitamins which are later released from the body. The use of lipstick, powder and lotions that are free of fatty substances, are all approved on the HCG diet. Brilliantine can also be used on the hair, but not to be rubbed into the scalp. Sun-tan oil is strictly prohibited. Approved cosmetics include: Mineral based/oil free foundation/lotions, bare essentials/bare minerals, mineral stick deodorant (Crysalux Crystal), baking soda, face soap/make up removers, Arbonne, Neutrogena Oil Free Cream Cleanser, and Witch Hazel. For skin and lip moisturizers, there are a variety of approved products to choose from. However, various foods can also be eaten to promote healthy skin, check out the link for more info. For HCG approved products they include: Alba Oil Free Facial Moisturizer, Aloe Vera 100%, coconut oil (cold pressed), Fiji Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Kiss my Face Oil Free Moisturizer, St. Ives Vanilla Lotion. As for shampoos and conditioners, approved products include Aubrey Organics, Life Extension, Magik Botanicals Oil Free Shampoo and Conditioner, Mastey Products, and Natures Gate Alovera. Dial soap can be used as well as baking soda for everyday cleaning. Sunscreen should be used based off the following products: Aveeno Oil Free Sunscreen, Clarins Oil Free Sun Care Spray SPF 15, Coppertone Oil Free Sun Block for Faces SPF 30, Coppertone Oil Free Sun Block Lotion, Ocean Potion Sport Xtreme Sun Block Water and Sweat, Oil Free Sport Xtreme Sun Block, Peter Thomas Roth Ultra Lite Oil Free sun products, Zia Oil Free Sunscreen SPF 15. For toothpaste, Spry and Toms of Maine toothpaste are both acceptable. For an easily printable list, check out a List of Recommended Beauty Products Safe for HCG.

Nutrition Facts: 494 calories, 10.6g fiber, 31 carbs, 51g protein, 229mg sodium

Starting your day with a cup of herbal tea such as black tea or green tea is a great choice when it comes to your overall health. Green tea specifically has been shown to increase fat burning and boost your metabolic rate. In a study done on 10 healthy men, it was found that green tea increased energy expenditure by 4%. More information about this study can be found here. Mix in a spoonful or two of substitute sugar, such as Trulicious Natural Sweetener, which is 3 times sweeter than sugar, but has very few calories and a low glycemic index. To go along with your tea, a slice of Melba Toast is an excellent way to incorporate a good source of fiber and complex carbohydrate into your diet.

Following breakfast, the caloric intake increases, with four items on the menu. At over 20g of protein and only 200 calories, grilled chicken breast is a great way to give your body the protein it needs to keep your muscles strong and well-fed while working out. Made up of important amino acids, the protein contained in chicken helps to form the building blocks of muscles in the body. Not only is chicken great for its protein content, but also the vitamins and minerals it contains. For example, the Vitamin B that chicken provides, can help boost immunity, regulate digestion and prevent problems such as migraines, high cholesterol and diabetes. Also contained within chicken is vitamin D which helps the body absorb calcium and strengthens bones. Vitamin A, also found in chicken, helps with overall eye health, while its traces of iron help with muscle activity. Overall, diets with high levels of protein are shown to help with weight loss, as it provides the necessary protein your muscles need to burn abnormal fat. Along with the chicken at lunch, choose a few ounces of asparagus. Its packed with fiber and antioxidants that keep your body running smoothly. Vitamins such as A, C, E, and B6 as well as high levels of iron, copper, and calcium, give your body the key nutrients it needs while on a restricted caloric intake. At only 32 calories per cup, asparagus contains a lot of soluble and insoluble fiber, which is great when youre trying to lose weight. The fiber, while helping with digestion, is consumed slowly by the body and keeps you full longer in between meals. Antioxidants found in asparagus, especially the purple kind, can help your body fight against cancer cells and strengthen your immune system. Adding a bit of sweetness to the end of your meal can be a great way to boost your energy, while also providing your body with excellent nutrients and vitamins. Apples, ranked first in Medical News Todays article on top 10 healthy foods, are high in Vitamin C, a powerful natural antioxidant that can fight against free radicals and infectious agents. Along with minerals such as calcium, potassium and phosphorus, the B-complex vitamins within apples are great for maintaining red blood cells and keeping the nervous system in great shape.

Dinner contains plenty of natural and nutritious items such as halibut, cauliflower and strawberries, all of which have immense health benefits to the body. Halibut is an excellent source of protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12. It is also rich in fiber, and contains more than oatmeal and a variety of vegetables. The Satiety Index of Common Foods also ranks white fish such as halibut, as number two for the most filling foods, only topped by potatoes. This is due to the high protein content and also the influence it has on serotonin, a key hormone responsible for controlling appetite signals. Omega 3 fatty acids, which can be found in various white fish, are essential for the body and cannot be synthetically created. Therefore, it needs to be supplied from an external source such as cod and halibut. Other nutrients such as magnesium, in which halibut contains 22mg, helps relax arteries and veins in the body, which in turn, increases blood flow. Cooking methods such as broiling, baking and grilling, instead of deep frying, can help keep all the nutrients in the foods.

Pair your halibut with some steamed or baked cauliflower which is rich in vitamins and minerals. Cauliflower contains high levels of sulforaphane, a sulfur compound that has been seen to kill cancer stem cells and limit tumor growth. Its anti-cancer effects can also help prevent prostate cancer, when combined with turmeric, which contains the active compound curcumin. Not only is it great for preventing cancer, but it also controls inflammation in the body due to its various compounds. Lastly, cauliflower contains 77% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, which is key to body development and repairs of body tissue. Also a good source of vitamin k, thiamin, phosphorous and potassium, cauliflower is a one-stop shop for many vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive. Finishing your meal off with a dozen strawberries is a great way to not only satisfy your sweet tooth, but also provide your body with vitamins, potassium and fiber. All of these can help with weight loss and strengthen your body overall. Strawberries help promote the creation of adiponectin and leptin hormones, which both help with fat burning and increasing your metabolism. They also have anti-inflammatory properties by limiting the impact of enzymes and genes that can promote inflammation in the body. This is due to the high antioxidant content contained within them. Eating water rich foods such as strawberries, cucumbers and tomatoes, which can contain up to 90% water, helps contribute to better overall hydration if eaten with a steady consumption of water as well. Containing more vitamin C than oranges by weight, one cup of strawberries fulfills 141% of your daily vitamin C needs. While not directly shown to cause weight loss, vitamin C deficiencies have been shown to hinder weight and body fat loss, so ensure that youre fulfilling your daily needs while dieting. Vitamin C has also been shown to help dieters with high blood pressure. Lastly, strawberries are rich in nitrate, which can help increase the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles by 7%. This has been shown to help dieters burn more calories and lessen overall fatigue.

Breakfast: Herbal tea with Trulicious Natural Sweetener, and 1 breadstick

Lunch: 3.5 oz of shrimp, 3.5 oz spinach, 2 Melba Toast and a small orange

Dinner: 3 oz of beef, 3.5 oz tomatoes, 1 breadsticks and grapefruit

Nutrition Facts: 493 calories, 19g sugar, 46 carbs, 45g protein, 281 sodium

Shrimp packs a punch when it comes to key nutrients and protein content. At around 20 grams of protein per 3 ounces, it provides just a few grams less than the same amount of chicken. A single jumbo shrimp provides about 3 grams of protein, but has very little fat and carbohydrates, making it a great food while trying to lose weight. It also comes close to fulfilling the bodys daily value for selenium, a trace mineral that can help limit inflammation, protect against heart disease and maintain a healthy metabolism. Along with selenium, shrimp provides around 60% of your daily vitamin B12 needs and 40% for phosphorous. To go along with the shrimp, try some sauteed spinach, which provides your body with 3.6g of carbohydrates, 2.2g of which are dietary fiber. Spinach contains 70% insoluble fiber, which helps improves digestion function and the transportation of food through the body. The other 30% is soluble fiber, which keeps your body from absorbing some fats contained in other foods. Fiber plays an important role in the body and especially weight loss. Learn more about the different types of fiber here. Spinach also has a low glycemic index of just 15, which makes it the perfect food for promoting weight loss and eliminating cellulite. 100 grams of spinach also contains 558mg of potassium, about 16% of your daily value. Containing more potassium than 100g of bananas, increased consumption helps with preserving bone mineral density and retaining muscle mass. It has also been shown to help prevent kidney stones, as well as control heart rate and blood pressure. To finish off lunch, try a small or medium orange. They have over 170 different phytochemicals and 60 flavonoids, many of which have strong antioxidant benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. One orange provides 130% of your daily vitamin C needs, which helps boost your immune system and keeps the body running smoothly. Choline, a vitamin contained in oranges, with 36mg per orange, has been shown to help with sleep, muscle movement, learning and memory.

For dinner, the main meal of beef, tomatoes and grapefruit, contains a variety of

vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. At around 26 grams of protein, the 100g of beef will keep you full and strong while on the HCG diet. Beef also provides 35% of your vitamin B3 needs and 107% for vitamin B12. Maintaining a strong supply of proteins, vitamins and minerals is crucial while on the HCG diet, due to the decrease in calories consumed. It is important to provide your body with the building blocks it needs to stay healthy as you lose weight. To go along with your main source of protein, tomatoes are a superfood when it comes to nutritional content and the benefits it provides your body. They are rich in vitamin C, at around 40% of your daily requirement per tomato, and also in vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant that can improve your vision. Lycopene, a component of tomatoes, has been proven to help protect against cardiovascular disease and decrease cholesterol levels. Finishing the meal with half a grapefruit, brings the body similar benefits to the oranges consumed at lunch, due to its high vitamin A and C levels. However, it still has a low glycemic index of 25, therefore, not significantly affecting blood sugar and insulin levels. Studies done by Dr. Ken Fujioka as part of the Scripps Clinic, showed that on average, obese participants who consumed fresh grapefruit before each meal, lost the most weight at 3.52 pounds over 12 weeks, with the placebo group only losing 0.66 pounds. Along with its weight loss benefits, grapefruits are one of the most hydrating fruits on the planet, made up of 91% water, and providing the body with important electrolytes.

Simeons notes in his protocol that there is no objection to breaking up the two meals. For example, there is the option to have a breadstick and an apple for breakfast or before bed, as long as it is removed from the regular meals and no more than four items are eaten during one meal. When first following the HCG diet and planning out meals, Dr. Simeons suggests keeping a diet log, in order to properly measure caloric intake and food consumption. Relying on memory can be difficult, and preparation will always serve to keep dieters organized and on-track with their diet needs. Overall, sticking to a plan is the most important aspect of the HCG diet and following the careful way in which the foods, process and treatment was designed.
